在中文中，无论是纯铁制品、不锈钢制品，还是其他金属制品，人们多习惯于用“铁”这个字，即使有时并不正确，但英文并不是这样。

对于我们说的铁筷子，也就是不锈钢筷子，英文通常用metal-金属这个词，以与木质筷子做区分。

(1) Metal 金属的

Do you want to use the wooden chopsticks or metal chopsticks for dinner?

你是想用木筷子还是铁筷子吃晚饭？

也可以用steel chopsticks，但人们第一反应是用metal。

I like the reusable metal water bottle instead of the plastic one.

我喜欢可以多次使用的金属水瓶，而不是塑料的。

英文中，真正的铁制品才用iron-铁这个词。

(2) Iron 铁的

Use the cast iron skillet to fry chicken.

用这个铁锅煎鸡肉吧。

Daddy's hammer is made of iron.

爸爸的锤子是铁做的。

钢是一种合金，通常表面有光泽。

(3) Steel 钢的

We will use the stainless-steel pan to cook those eggs.

我们一会儿用这个不锈钢煎锅煎这些鸡蛋。

We'll pass by the steel mill when we drive into the city.

我们开到市里以后会路过一个钢厂。
